The first house after Toxteth Park on George Allen’s estate became, a century later, Australia’s pioneering independent Aboriginal-controlled adult education centre. Stone cottage, asymmetrical plan, activism meetings, circular learning buildings at the rear — Tranby is Glebe heritage with living Indigenous significance.
