Yasmar is Ramsay spelt backwards — a wedding-excision from Simeon Lord’s Dobroyde Estate for Mary Louisa Ramsay and Alexander Learmonth. John Bibb, Verge’s successor, set a single-storey verandah’d sandstone villa well back from dusty Parramatta Road inside a Loudon-esque Gardenesque approach. Grace Brothers later gardened here; wartime and juvenile justice adapted the rooms; yet house, stables, gates and a rare plant collection still read as the last relatively intact nineteenth-century villa estate on Australia’s oldest road. Pair with demolished Annandale House and rescued Lyndhurst for Parramatta Road / inner-west estate fate.

Crest between Bland and Chandos Streets on Parramatta Road — last relatively intact villa house–garden–stables ensemble on the road that erased Annandale, Elswick, Dobroyde House, Ashfield Park (SHR statement). Italianate sandstone gateposts with ball finials, remnant iron palisade, serpentine drive to teardrop carriage loop (SHR / DoS). Gardenesque reveal: house withheld then disclosed; cast-iron verandah posts (same foundry tradition as Elizabeth Farm — DoS).

Rare / significant plantings cited on SHR: Chilean wine palm, Bunya / hoop / kauri pines, Moreton Bay & Port Jackson figs, firewheel, black bean, palo blanco (Picconia excelsa), puzzle bush, camellias with Camden Park links — many tied to Edward Pierson Ramsay and Dobroyde nursery (SHR / Plate / DoS).
